Statewide ASD Needs Assessment Needs Assessment
The purpose is to inform future statewide decisions about professional development for professionals working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Results of this survey will be used to Determine state wide, multidisciplinary professional development opportunities in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders Quantify the professional growth of educational professionals working with individuals with ASD Differentiate the needs of professionals with various special education and related service licenses

Autism License Update Process:
Beginning in Fall 2012, applicants submitted portfolios documenting professional development aligned to standards in license Multiple reviewers with varying perspectives Attempted to give targeted feedback to help applicants improve portfolios for next submission Multiple resources developed in-house and from special ed and higher ed community Scope of practice is limited to teachers original special education license (B-6, K-12 or B-12)

What to do Next? Final Steps:
If approved, and have not approved for licensure, must complete application by Dec 31, 2015 If not approved, work with a local IHE to complete needed standards There are multiple programs at IHEs with ASD programs
