4 How Do SmartCards Work? 4 SkillCard Goes Smart Data is Stored in a Microchip on the Card The Card can be read with a Contact or Contactless Reader The card can be read Offline or Online When the card is read Online, the data is Synchronised with the Skillcard Database

5 Options for Reading Cards 5 SkillCard Goes Smart PC or Laptop connected to a smartcard reader, running “Go Smart” (Can be download free of charge from www.skillcard.org.uk) Android Smartphone or Tablet with NFC (Go Smart app can be downloaded free of charge from Google Play) Recent models of Windows Smartphone with NFC such as Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 (Go Smart app can be downloaded free of charge from the Windows Store)
