Making the clouds and rain go bye… Trust Mrs. Ward….that ain’t no lie!!! High Pressure means a clear, blue sky!!!!

MR. SHARKEY…..REALLY? Yesterday Mr. Sharkey was sending his choral responses to me. Let’s put him on BLAST!!!! High Pressure means a clear, blue sky…. Making the clouds and rain go bye… Trust Mrs. Ward….that ain’t no lie!!! High Pressure means a clear, blue sky!!!!

Try this one!!! Copy this choral response: Mr. Sharkey might THINK he knows… But LOW PRESSURE will make you go Inside your house all day, Because rain and clouds are coming our way!

The next three days…. We will be working on our writing task for 1 st quarter This is not an option; it is mandatory. This grade will be worth 15% of your first quarter grade. I will help you through the process as long as you are giving 100% effort. The science department will be evaluating your essays as a team, so please put your best effort forward to showcase how amazing the Bobcats’ students really are!!!

First Quarter Writing Task—Seventh Grade Science Think about what you’ve been learning this quarter in science (weather and atmosphere). Think about a specific time or place in which you have been impacted by natural elements or forces nature or other topics you’ve learned about this quarter in science. Perhaps the weather has interrupted a sports event like a soccer match or the drought has caused foods you like to go up in price. Write a multiple paragraph essay describing how scientific concepts you have learned about have impacted or changed your life in some way. Make sure the main ideas are thoroughly supported with details and examples of how science has impacted your life.

Brainstorm…what kinds of ideas might this include????

Graphic Organizer Write your name and date on the paper NOW. Please do not lose any of the resources I give you. If this means leaving them in the classroom, please do so.

Choose your topic. Please write your idea under the section that says topic. A topic should give a basic idea of your essay. (Can be a title) For example, my topic is: My Summer Beach Trip meets Tropical Storm Debby!

Opening Sentences… Think of a catchy phrase or sentence to open your essay. Remember: YOU WANT TO HOOK THE READER IMMEDIATELY. My example: “This past summer was one I will always remember; how could I forget almost being washed away in the storm surge of Tropical Storm Debby?”

Three Ideas about this event Remember, you need to include AS MUCH SCIENCE information as possible to SHOWCASE what you are learning this quarter. List these as bullets under your opening sentences. Please write in COMPLETE sentences You may use your notebooks or science textbook to research these facts.

Reason One Fact One…something you experienced as a result of this storm that you learned in science. My example: There was a very high storm surge during Tropical Storm Debby.

Reason Two Fact Two…something you experienced as a result of this storm that you learned in science. My example: In Hurricane Debby, there were very high winds and pouring rain.

Reason Three Fact Three…something you experienced as a result of this storm that you learned in science. My Example: Tropical Storm Debby felt as though it would never end and lasted for nearly half a day.

Transfer into the Graphic Organizer Please place your three reasons into the graphic organizer under Reason #1, Reason #2, and Reason #3 Topic Sentences.

Brainstorm Vocabulary Under the last page, start listing some vocabulary you might want to use in your essay. Think of words that are appropriate to what we have covered. Let’s brainstorm these words together to create a word bank.

Complete the rest of the organizer Under each of the reason, you need to include three supporting details.

My Example Reason #1: There was a very high storm surge during Tropical Storm Debby. 1. As I was in our beach home, I watched the water rise higher and higher as the storm continued until felt like the water would encroach the bank in front of our house. 2. Many of our items left outside were washed away. My son lost his very favorite toy because the storm surge rose much higher than we expected for a tropical storm. 3. The next day, I discovered that the sand from a turtle egg nest high above the tide line had been washed away.
