Panning The camera is stationary and moves horizontally from left to right, or right to left. Can follow a moving object or character, or establish the surroundings of a scene.
21
Tilting The camera is stationary and tilts on a vertical plane – looking up or looking down. Can ‘look’ a character or object from the base up or head down.
22
Dolly and Tracking shots A dolly is a wheeled vehicle on tracks that has the camera secured to it. It is used to move the camera around in a scene. Also used to ‘track’ a character or object.
23
Crane or Boom shots The camera is attached to the crane or boom and enables the director to produce dramatic footage.
24
Steadicam a steadicam allows the camera operator more freedom to move around and follow a character or action.
