Shing Lau & Ben Ingarfield

Overview  Genre: 3D Adventure / Shooter  Perspective: 1 st Person (3 rd Person optional)  Game play:  Player: An Assassin  Objective: Assigned to killing a particular opponent  Your only option is to kill or to be killed  Setting: Futuristic industrial environment based on the Unreal style and assets  Engine: Unreal Engine within Unreal Tournament 2004

Mutator System  Every obtainable item within UT2004 will be bought using Credits.  Credits are obtained via kills & pickups  Mini Quests (can be done in Multiplayer and Single Player).  “Use” Menu can be pulled up at any time.  Weapons can be bought (using credits)  Health can be bought (using credits)  Armour can be bought (using credits)

Mutator System

 Objectives/Mini-Quests:  Objectives are targets (other players) that you may kill which will give you bonus points.  You must kill them within a certain amount of time.  These will be fed to the user via screen text.  Users may decide to ignore these objectives.

Audience  Specific Audience: Male 15-25.  Why?  This game type isn’t available for 15 year olds however when has rating stopped children from “obtaining” these games?  They like anything that gives them a rush.

Potential  The potential that this will survive in the market is high.  For example Counter Strike? (its still widely being played)  Business Partners/Publishers:  Epic Games  Valve  id Software

Competitors  Competitors to Unreal Hunters are other multiplayer objective-based shooters  Counter-Strike (PC)  Red Steel (Wii)  Metroid Prime Hunters (NDS)  Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PSP)  The Ship (PC)

Competitors Images sourced from http://au.ign.comhttp://au.ign.com

Counter-Strike  Multiplayer mode: All  Two teams verse each other  Consists of multiple timed rounds  Start of each round, teams receive a predetermined objective  First team to complete their objective wins the round  Based on their actions, players will be rewarded different amounts of money  In Unreal Hunters:  Individual players rather than team based game play  Setting will be sci-fi rather than Counter-Terrorism / Middle East

Red Steel  Multiplayer mode: Killer  Four players fight for themselves  Consists of multiple timed rounds  Start of each round, players receive a secret objective  First player to complete their objective wins the round  Based on the difficulty, players will be rewarded different amounts of points  In Unreal Hunters:  Objectives written on screen rather than spoken  Setting will be sci-fi rather than Yakuza / Japan  More than four players can compete at once  Players will be rewarded money rather than points

Metroid Prime Hunters  Multiplayer mode: Prime Hunter  Four players fight for themselves  Consists of one timed round  First player to kill becomes powerful ‘Prime Hunter’  Remaining players must defeat them to take the title  If a player remains a ‘Prime Hunter’ for the predetermined amount of time, they win the game  If the Time Limit expires, the player who held the title longest is the winner  In Unreal Hunters:  Objectives are set at the beginning of the a round rather than being dynamically determined.  More than four players can compete at once  Players will be rewarded with money for completing objectives rather than just statistics

R & C: Size Matters  Multiplayer mode: Iron Lombax Challenge  Two teams of two players each verse each other  Consists of one round based on the map  Start of each round, teams receive the overall objective based on the environment  Players receive the next predetermined objective after completing the previous one  First team to complete all their objectives wins the round  In Unreal Hunters:  More than four players can compete at once  More customisation will be available  More guidance will be given for the objectives

The Ship  Multiplayer mode: Hunt  8 – 16 players fight for themselves  Consists of multiple semi-timed rounds  Start of each round, players receive a secret objective  First player to kill their target starts the timer countdown until the next round  Based on their actions, players will be rewarded different amounts of money  The player who accumulates a set amount of cash first is the winner  In Unreal Hunters:  Setting will be sci-fi rather than Art Deco / Cruise ship  You don’t have to follow the objectives and game rules as strictly

Strengths  Counter-Strike  How it handles money in game, with simple real world economics  Has an easy to use menu system to purchase items  Red Steel  Its unique way of providing the objective  Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters  Its multiple objective system that changes with each map  The Ship  How it handles the hunter / hunted game play  Good Map & Target location system  Its ‘Money For Kills’ system that rewards precision

Weaknesses  Red Steel  Apart from the single objective, it doesn’t add much more to standard game play  Metroid Prime Hunters  It does not reward the player enough for getting better  Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters  Its small scale, with only four different maps, and two players per team, it quickly loses its appeal  The Ship  High learning curve with complex maps and the amount of personal stats that need to be tracked
