Background Federation that have 30,000 members in metal, auto and electrical Company based unions Mainly companies with more than 300 employees Work with OHS but still have some traditional problems (noise, chemicals, machine safety) Would like improve the OHS in smaller companies

Immediate objective or Policy Enhance the capacity to play a more active role in OHS, including the building of training capacity and improving the ability to effectively address OHSE issues in selected industries Make concrete improvements in OHSE in industries and workplaces covered by the federation

Output I 30 trainers trained in: Occupational health, safety and environment issues Active training techniques appropriate to OHSE. Developing training materials Developing new courses. Some of these persons will be capable of training others in conducting training.

Output II Workers trained at 48 workplaces Will start with activities at workplaces where the federation have a strong presence and go on to smaller workplaces (50-300 employees) with a less satisfaction working environment

Resource use 60.000 USD One very skilled trainer 45 people who are willing and able. Shall be able to conduct training at least 4 times a year after the initial training A classroom

Sustainability I Resources: The lack of financial resource can be overcome if the federation use the OHSE training work as an organizing tool. By attracting more members and providing “services” to the members (i.e training in OHSE and influencing the workplace OHSE situation) the federation will be capable of financing more and more training themselves

Sustainability II Political: Political sustainability is achieved though the leadership of federation developing and implementing comprehensive policies and strategies on OHSE Organisational
