RWC Community Engagement
2
Aims of the evening Community engagement…. What will this look like for your club? How do we engage new people? What events can we run? RFU products Produce club action plan
3
What’s your Social Capital Every Sports Club must develop considerable goodwill and engagement with their local community if they are to develop and survive. Having a success criteria based on sport only, 1 st Team results, trophies won, number of members etc. is too narrow a focus.
4
What’s your Social Capital Produces a disconnect between Sport and Society. If your values are just to ‘coach sport’ or provide enjoyment for your members then you will probably find that people in the surrounding community care little for you or your activities unless they are directly involved with your club. Narrow focus on your club limits your scope.
5
What’s your Social Capital The shared norms and values your Club has with the Local Community. Social Capital = Community Goodwill Account The bigger your goodwill account, the more people will want to become, Users, Members, Volunteers and Partners. Successful Partnerships have to be Win - Win
