16 Case Background The client was having Excel based Expense Planning & Budgeting system & wanted to replace it with a more robust and technologically advanced application because it was very tine consuming with no Accuracy of the submitted plan numbers Engagement Objective To automate the Expense planning process for the business and to digitize and implement Hyperion Planning and reporting The solution should budget and forecast expenses for all cost centers, improve the current process with a technically advanced application that would offer solutions to eliminate excel and create a centralized repository for reporting and planning Challenges In this application client wanted only variable incentive compensation and incentive compensation bonus type, this task was challenging to implement and automate First implementation project on Hyperion System 9 at HCL with no documentation Benefits: Automation of the Expense planning and Reporting process Reduced expense Planning cycle time Improved data accuracy; elimination of manual entries and intervention Application of common business rules for expense reporting across Calculates expenses at the cost center and BSLA level. Provides a framework for customizing the planning process Integrates with actual data for reconciliation, forecasting, and reporting purposes. Integrates with other systems to load data, typically through Hyperion System 9 Application Link Improved data quality and user experience Software Tools: Hyperion Essbase: 9.3.1, Hyperion Planning 9.3.1,Appworx 6.1, FR, HAL Client Hyperion Application Leading Global diversified business company, US – Hyperion Expense Planning

17 Leading Investment Bank, Europe – Hyperion Essbase case study Multidimensio nal Reporting (using Data Preaggregati on) Report Front End Report Factory Data Extraction Business Data Regular Data Feeds Hierarchy Data dbNexus Hierarchy Maintenance Staging Area Data Preparation Trans- formation Load Cube Build Process Control Process Control/ Build Rules Operational System Request Cube Build Data Analysis Relational Reporting (for large data volumes) Oracle Java RMI Essbase AIX  Collaborative analysis, design and development of new reporting requirements and enhancements  Design and architecture of data staging solutions  Software evaluations and ongoing market observation in reporting domain  The team was involved in Essbase core component development, Migration of cubes, Consolidation and Implementation Services Provided  Provided a standard framework for Essbase based Data Analysis and Reporting  Standard framework components created using Essbase APIs thus moving away from conventional rule file based data/ dimensional building to generic building. Efforts required for the creation of a new cube was reduced as only standard components were used, the only efforts involved were to map the data-sources to the metadata tables  Performance improvement by the use of Essbase APIs. Easy to integrate with another existing App-server for monitoring  Structure of existing cubes reengineered for better performance. Explored MDX query tuning and tools (like Hyperroll) to reduce to cube data refresh time further  The effort required for maintenance/enhancement activity was considerably reduced. These activities could be performed by any developer knowing the framework, even without knowing the business rules related to the cube  The Cube Build-Time, Cube Failure Status and all the messages encountered while a Cube-Build takes place is updated in Oracle tables, this allows for a better way to diagnose and fix the problems or performance issues  The efforts required for the creation of a new cube was reduced as standard components were used, the only efforts involved were to map the data-sources to the metadata tables  Minimum user down-time was achieved by the use of Swap-Cube architecture. The cube load happens on background cubes and the user would still continue to use the foreground cubes. A final cube swap happens from background to foreground. This design avoids downtime of cube during building Solution Benefits

18 Leading Bank in Asia, Africa and the Middle East – Hyperion case study Client Background  Client had a Consumer Banking Cube (BSO) which contained all the Budgeting and Forecasting data.  The data was loaded and refreshed on a daily basis Problem Areas  Long Batch Runs (3.5 hrs to 4 hrs).  Data was related to countries across various time zones and hence non-availability of the cube during Business Hours in certain countries  Fragmentation  Slow Data retrieval and Reporting  High Maintenance Costs Engagement  HCLT engaged to conduct a detailed study of their existing system.  To understand the current bottlenecks and limitations.  Provide a suitable re-design and optimize database performance.  Migrate the system from Essbase 7.1.2 to Hyperion System 9.3.1.  Understand multi vendor project execution scenarios  To establish a proven support and maintenance model. Solution  The existing single cube system was re-designed to a system having five cubes and migrated to Hyperion 9.3.1  Partitions were created to pull overlapping data  Separate cube for Reporting Purposes.  Batch run time was reduced from 3.5 hours to 30 minutes and it included De-fragmentation of cube also.  Continuous availability of cube during Business hours for all the 32 countries  Data Retrieval/Reporting time saw close to 70% reduction.  2/3rd reduction in Maintenance Costs

19 Leading Global diversified business company, US – Europe Hyperion Integration Solution To streamline the data from ESE application by manually remapping the Cost Center / BLE / Currency using Excel. To transform Smart Stream feed in Data Staging into a flat file, which is loadable format for Hyperoll. Building mapping tables for ESE CostCenter/ BLE / Currency Update the CapSol Europe (CSE) Hierarchies to include ESE Designing ESE Data extraction and load process Convert Historical ESE Financial data from current ESE Hyperion/SMS (2006,07) Convert historical Headcount / Statistical data from ESE Hyperion Data Reconciliation Strategy & Modules, Testing key functionalities (e.g. - FX) Business Situation:  Customer’s Hyperion Analysis provides financial analysis and reporting capabilities on actual, plan and FX adjusted actual data to the combined Business of EF and Fleet.  The Business needed to integrate their Application (which contains OP / Head Count data) that needs to be converted as a one time exercise with conversions for Accounts, BLE, Cost Center and Currency Dimension.  Use SmartStream as Data Source  Include transformation of the data from Smart Stream in data staging  The converted Data is then to be loaded into HyperRoll server, calculated and made available to CSE (Capital Solutions) application Area of Engagement: Hyperion Essbase: 7.X, Appworx 6.1 Value Delivered No dependency on ESE Hyperion Enterprise Ease of reconciliations Possibility of data load automation Same mapping effort involved for Cost Centres/BLEs/Currencies in Other Options. Possibility of further development, when detail ESE (branch) Structure would be created Reporting needs to be fulfilled at a consolidated level; both for CSE and ESE Businesses
