3. Why unlock and use Custom ROM  Q: Why unlock the bootloader?  A: To allow yourself the option of using custom recovery images and custom boot ROMs.

4. Why unlock and use Custom ROM  Q: Why use custom recovery and custom ROMs?  A: To haz infinite fun with your Rezound. Root access, special toys can’t get otherwise, more security options, nandroid backups and much much moar!

5. WARNING!!!!! Danger Will Robinson!  Warnings:  This may (probably will) void your warranty. Or maybe not…  This guide does not include S-Off.

6. Preparation  Download the stuff n junk you’ll need:  Android SDK  Amon-Ra recovery image  Custom ROM image  Custom ROM kernel

7. Preparation  Unzip the android sdk  Remove metadata  xattr –rd com.apple.quarantine /path/to/your/folder/  Or just double click the script in Finder and say yes.  Install the android sdk by navigating to the folder where the android sh script lies and execute:  android sdk

8. Preparation  Click the box beside Android platform-tools and then hit install  That will give you fastboot which will be used throughout this guide.

9. HTC Unlock Bootloader  You will want to start by creating your account with HTCDev. This will allow you to have access to the tools you need to unlock your bootloader.

10. HTC Unlock Bootloader  Go to the HTCDev website, log in, click unlock bootloader and go.  Follow the directions to unlock the bootloader.

11. HTC Unlock Bootloader  Power down the phone  Remove battery  Wait 30 seconds  Replace battery  Press power and vol down and hold until you hit HTC screen

12. HTC Unlock Bootloader  Select fastboot  Plug your phone into your machine  At the command line enter: ./fastboot oem get_identifier_token  Copy and paste that token into the HTC Dev site.

13. HTC Unlock Bootloader  Submit the token.  Wait for the email.  Download Unlock_code.bin to your android platform tools directory  Execute: ./fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

14. HTC Unlock Bootloader  The phone will ask you if you really wanna.  Do you really wanna?  If so then tell it yes using the vol down/up keys and power to submit.  BAM! You’re unlocked

15. Amon-Ra Recovery  Copy the amon-ra recovery image to your android platform tools directory  Execute:  fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.15- gnm.img  BAM! You now have amon-ra recovery

16. Amon-Ra Recovery  You can now take nandroid backups, wipe caches, destroy stuff, slap kittens, and load custom ROMs.  Probably a good idea at this point to take a nandroid backup of your stock image.

17. Team Venom Viper ROM  Attach the usb cable to your machine again go back to recovery.  Format all/upgrade Ext4  Toggle USB SDCard (not internal)  Copy the PS98IMG.zip to the root of your external storage or your sd card  Use the flash from zip option.  Select your rom to flash and install it

18. Team Venom Viper ROM  Reboot back into HBOOT one more time.  This will scan your storage for the PS98IMG.zip file and install the kernel.  Reboot one more time.  BAM! You should be running a custom ROM
