Questionnaire A General Information This questionnaire aims at gathering general data to define the students ’sample group to whom questionnaires have been addressed to examine the results. We have requested : the size of the town of residence, the number of family members, the type and size of house, the type of windows, of heating system, of domestic lighting and of household goods they possessed. The results show that 83% of the students has a family of 4-6 persons 81% of students lives in the centre or in the suburbs, while the remaining part lives in the province of Campobasso. Almost 100% of students’ families use traditional electric lighting, only one student has a solar panel to produce energy. More than 70% uses gas for heating, while the remaining part uses electricity, wood or pellet heaters, fireplaces, other. The most relevant data is that almost 80% of the total sample: lives in the city or in the suburbs, uses gas for heating and the family is made up of 4-6 members. With reference to this sample, we have made a further test (paper test) to give students’ families They aimed at analysing the effective consumption of electricity and of gas. (While for the remaining part it was difficult to deduce general results.) In some of the towns where students live they are completing the gas distribution network,(which will improve the consumption for heating and for the production of hot water (56%). Besides the type of windows and heating system make us think that is possible to rationalize expenditure and waste of 30%. The use of ecological bulbs (50%), the habit of turning off the electric households that remain in stand-by may improve the electric current use.
3
City of residence up to 5,000 inhabitants from 5,000 to 10,000 inhabitants from 10,000 to 100,000 inhabitants
4
Do you live in the capital city of the Region? yes no

Data about your house

SECOND PART The results show that 80% corresponds to these characteristics: Sample A: Number of family members: 4-6 people Number of motor vehicles owned: 2-3- House size: detached/semidetached house of 200-300 square meters Flat: 100-200 square meters Other cases were too different therefore they were not taken into consideration. So we considered 80% of the sample and we gave them other questionnaires (paper questionnaires) that required the effective consumption of heating gas, electricity and fuel for motor vehicles during the year 2008.

For hot water we use gas electricity solar panels a plant that works with the fire place oil

GENERALLY: I generally leave my mobile phone charger, play-station etc.. plugged into the socket even after removing the equipment I always do it I sometimes do it I would like to do it but I cannot I never do it
33
GENERALLY: I leave in stand-by TV, video and others I always do it I sometimes do it I would like to do it but I cannot I never do it
34
GENERALLY: I try to reduce electric use by avoiding to light up at the same time stereo, TV, I-pod, computer, and radio I always do it I sometimes do it I would like to do it but I cannot I never do it
35
Use of household appliance
36
Saving heating fuel
37
The Room Temperature is set at no more than 19 degrees: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
38
We cover radiators with clothes, underwear or others: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
39
When the heating is on, we close the windows: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
40
If there's a chimney, when it is off the draught shutter is closed: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
41
We use draught-protectors and, when it is possible we let the shutters down, to avoid heat loss: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
42
When there's no one at home, the heating is turned off: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
43
Medium obtainable saving: 600mc/year of methane = -€300
44
Saving gas in the kitchen:
45
Pots and frying pans are put on griddles with the same dimensions of their diameter: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
46
During the cooking, pots and frying pans are covered with their own lid: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it
47
We always use the pressure cooker, if it is possible: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
48
We turn the oven and/or the electric griddles off, some minutes before the end of the cooking, to use the remaining heat: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
49
Medium obtainable saving: 60mc/year of methane = - €30 per year
50
Saving energy to heat water:
51
We prefer having a shower rather than a bath, and we don't prolong it in vain: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
52
We don't turn the warm water tap on uselessly: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
53
Since we have the electric water heater, we turn it on only a few minutes before using the water and we set it at no more than 60 degrees: We always do it We sometimes do it We would like to do it, but we can’t We never do it.
