6. OF Mice and Men, Published in 1937 gave the view of ranch workers and the hardships of having to get along to get the job done.

7. The Grapes of Wrath, published in 1939 showed the struggle families faced during the Dust Bowl. Families had to leave their homes to find work for survival.

8. In John's later years of writing many critics felt that his writing was lacking and sentimental. Such as his novel, The Winter of Our Discontent, published in 1961.

9. Although John Steinbeck’s work began to decline in later years today they are still being read and is viewed as classic literature.
