3 Project objective: Project objective: is implementation of risk management pilot project and establishment of reliable cross-border co-operation and information exchange network between institutions involved in risk management in Zemgale (Latvia) and Siauliai (Lithuania) regions. Project costs: Project costs: Total budget – 1 310 849,92 EUR (ERDF funding – 983 137,44 EUR; National and project partners funding - 327 712,48 EUR) Project implementation time:, Project implementation time: March, 2006 – November, 2007 Project Led partner: Project Led partner: Jelgava city council Project partners: Project partners: Governor Administration of Siauliai County; Šiauliai City Council; Disaster Medicine Centre of Latvia; Emergency station in Siauliai; State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia; State Fire and Rescue Service of Lithuania; Riga Technical University; Zemgale Planning region; Dobele Region Council; Bauska City Council; Jelgava Region Council; Main project activities: Main project activities: Elaborated of cross-border risk management strategy and risk management information system, technical design of Risk Management Centre in Jelgava, installed car port for Emergency station in Siauliai, trained 150 specialists in areas related to risk management, elaborated video monitoring systems in Jelgava and Siauliai and air pollution control laboratory

5 Project objective: Project objective: is to stimulate the development of a sustainable cooperation and people-to-people activities for the inhabitants of Latvia and Lithuania in the area of culture by creating an institutional model. Project costs: Project costs: Total budget – 66 655 EUR (ERDF funding – 49 991,25 EUR; National and project partners funding - 16 663,75 EUR) Project implementation time:, Project implementation time: November, 2006 – August, 2007 Project Led partner: Project Led partner: Jelgava city council Project partners: Project partners: Municipal agency of Jelgava city "Culture“; Siauliai City Council; Main project activities: Main project activities: Two discussion forums of network partners, establish Cross-border Culture Committee (the Committee); the Musical culture pilot project prepared involving at least 50 artists and musicians from each partner city;

6 Establishment of Integrated Storm Water Management System in Lielupe River Basin / Storm Water Management for Lielupe

7 Project objective: Project objective: is to decrease pollution in Lielupe river basin resulting from untreated storm water thus promoting sustainability of it. Project costs: Project costs: Total budget – 252 350,00 EUR (ERDF funding – 189 262,50 EUR; National and project partners funding - 63 087,50 EUR) Project implementation time:, Project implementation time: December, 2006 – October, 2007 Project Led partner: Project Led partner: Jelgava city council Project partners: Project partners: Siauliai City Council; Bauska City Council; Jurmala city Council Main project activities: Main project activities: Sustainable management of storm water in Lielupe river basin; assessment of current storm water treatment system in Lielupe river basin area; public awareness on environmental protection in Lielupe river basin area.

8 Latvian – Lithuanian Cooperation in Fight against Flood

9 Project objective: Project objective: is to improve civil defence efficiency and cooperation in fighting against the effect caused by flood in Europe and in particular Lithuanian – Latvian cross border regions. Project costs: Project costs: Total budget – 223 872,00 EUR (EC funding – 179 097,00 EUR; Project partners funding – 44 775 EUR) Project implementation time:, Project implementation time: March, 2007 – April, 2009 Project Led partner: Project Led partner: Jelgava city council Project partners: Project partners: Siauliai City Council; Jelgava District Council Main project activities: Main project activities: organised three study visits for 14 rescuers and Latvian and Lithuanian municipality employees; elaborated and translated in three languages one cross – border rescue training program; organised four practical trainings etc.
