3. INTRODUCTION PEPEROSSO – June 2013 – 3 Few years ago during the night, Duevi, alarm systems manufacturer, got 2 thefts within 2 weeks time, inside our premises: a factory. We had detectors on the doors and windows, indoor PIRs, cameras, sirens, control panel with GSM for immediate alerting of the burglary. We had the videos recording how the thieves got inside the premises from the windows on the roof of the building, and in around 3 minutes the got all the notebooks and tablets of the company…and with the sirens and strobes warninig outside that there was a robbery, they went away before the police arrived. ONLY 3 MINUTES…..................

4. THE SPANISH CASE In Spain, 90% of the security market is in hand of big installing and Monitoring station companies that are giving a service to the end-user. Alarm panel, 1 door contacts for the main door, 2 PIRs for the rest of the house By law, there is a procedure to follow, which is the following one: Once there is an alarm, before the Monitoring company can call the police for intervention, they have to be sure that the alarm is from an intrusion into the premises and not a “false alarm”. They call the customer (if we are lucky they can answer immediately), if the customer is not at home, they need to send somebody to check if it was an effective alarm! Then in case of confirmation of the alarm, they call the police (in case of the video verification of the alarm, before the images are sent to the Monitoring station, the guard has to go anyway to the place. Reception of the images from the control panel, 4-5 min. This means that before the police get to the place, maybe 15-20 min have passed in the best cases. So… THIEVES CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT IN THOSE 3-5 MINUTES OF TYPICAL BURGLAR IN RESIDENTIAL OR SMALL COMMERCIAL PREMISES. PEPEROSSO – June 2013 – 4

5. THE ITALIAN CASE PEPEROSSO – June 2013 – 5 Since many years ago in Italy we protect any door, any windows and basically any possible entrance with a detector (magnetic contact). It is quite common to have door contact with shock sensor on-board, so there is an alarm when the intruder is trying to break-in, but it is still outside of the apartment/villa. Almost any room has a PIR detector. But very important, since many years ago, we install outdoor detection to prevent the Intrusion and to be alerted when the criminal is still in the garden, or the balcony of our properties. It is very important to have an early alarm in order to be able to react to the threat of a criminal, especially when our loved ones are inside the house, during the day/night. And if nobody is at home/office, it is important to have an early warning at the monitoring station/sms and delay the action of the thieves.
