Human Impact The Aswan High Dam in Egypt was built to prevent flooding in the fertile Nile delta. The dam is also responsible for providing Egypt with electricity and also provides 3 million acres of land with water through irrigation systems. Nuclear & Chemical Dangers Many of the nations in Central Asia were at one point part of the Soviet Union. The Soviets tested many nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons in this area leaving behind large amounts of contamination. Nuclear energy may also lead to problems in the future as Iran, one of the most unstable countries in the world is building up the ability to have nuclear energy, which in turn can be weaponized. Iran has threatened to wipe Israel off the map, and in getting nuclear weapons they would have ability to do so.
