Call to Action VA Outreach. Second annual NGAI Retiree/Alumni Day Event Legislative Objectives (Proposed): advocate for quality of life improvements for our Soldiers, Airmen and Families & improve the state of Indiana’s ranking as a military/veteran friendly state—near term objective sample. Include National Guard and Reserve members who have served honorably in the definition of “Hoosier Veteran”. Indiana recognizes the federal definition of “Veteran”, which does not include many National Guard and Reserve members. Create a tax credit of $2000 for hiring unemployed or honorably discharged Hoosier Veterans. Institute a Hoosier Veteran hiring preference for state employment. Remove financial barriers for Indiana Guardsmen to carry firearms for personal protection by eliminating fees for lifetime concealed carry permits.
