The 4 th of July The 4 th of July is a day when we celebrate our independence from Britain. It is when we became a country (in the year 1776). Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. These are our founding fathers. They helped the United States become a country.
