What did William Shakespeare really look like? The head is out of all proportion with the body. There is a peculiar line running from the ear down to the chin. Does this signify that the face is in fact a mask? The Chandos portrait was no doubt painted when Shakespeare was alive, unlike the posthumous painting, the Droeshout. Some critics argue that the painting cannot be of Shakespeare. 5 Was his education sufficient?

Shakespeare is believed to have attended the Stratford Grammar School around the age of six or seven. Though there is no record of him ever attending either school or university. 6 Why couldn't his children read or write?
William Shakespeare (18 years old) married Anne Hathaway when she was 26 years old. At the time he married her she was already several months pregnant. In his will he left only "the second best bed" to his wife. Anne Hathaway, the wife of William Shakespeare William’s first child, Susanna was baptized in May, His twins Hamnet and Judith were born in February Hamnet, William's only son died in 1596, just eleven years old. his workers, was the most magnificent theatre that London had ever seen and built in THE BEAR GARDEN AND HOPE THEATRE The first proper theatre was called the Theatre, built at Shoreditch, London in 1576 and the owner was James Burbage. After the Theatre, further open air playhouses (theaters) opened in the London area, ncluding the Rose Theatre (1587), and the Hope Theatre (1613). The most famous Elizabethan playhouse ( theater ) was the Globe Theatre (1599). SWAN THEATRE Young men played the women’s roles.

11 Authorship / Identity problem: Who Wrote William Shakespeare?
The Shakespeare authorship question is the ongoing debate, first recorded in the early 18th century, about whether the works attributed to William Shakespeare of Stratford- upon-Avon were actually written by another writer, or a group of writers. Among the numerous candidates that have been proposed, major claimants include Francis Bacon, Christopher Marlowe, William Stanley (6th Earl of Derby), and Edward de Vere (17th Earl of Oxford), who, since first being proposed in the 1920s, remains the most prevalent alternate authorship candidate. Edward de Vere – 17th Earl of Oxford is the leading alternative candidate for the author behind the alleged pseudonym, Shake-Speare Fulke Greville, 1st Baron Brooke is a recent claimant for the author for Shakespeare's works Authorship / Identity problem: Who Wrote William Shakespeare?

12 Why didn't William Shakespeare publish his plays or Sonnets?
