What is the difference between a fruit and a vegetable? A vegetable is any edible part of a plant Seeds Stems Leafs Roots Fruit itself A fruit is the part of the plant that contains seeds for replanting Another way to classify fruit and vegetables is based on taste. Some people believe that fruit have a sweeter taste than vegetables do, making fruit more of a dessert, and vegetables more of a meal.

What is the difference between a fruit and a vegetable? Common “vegetables” that are actually fruit tomatoes cucumbers squash and zucchini green, red, and yellow peppers peas pumpkins

The Plate Method Is it easy to remember everything you’ve eaten all day long? A good trick to try to ensure you’re getting all of your food groups is to use the Plate Method

How to use the Plate Method

Activity Using the handout given, pick some of your favourite foods and draw what it would look like if you were serving it according to the plate method. Is this what your plate typically would look like at home? At the end we will share our drawing with the people at our table and talk about our favourite foods.

Sharing our favourite foods Take a minute or two and share your drawings with the others at your table What did you do if you picked a food like stir fry, pizza, or tacos? Do you think using the plate method is easy?
