Welcome to our guests… Thank you for giving up your time this evening Session Aims –Increase our game knowledge –Build relationships with club coaches –Improve our refereeing of what matters

Conor O’Shea & Richard Cockerill in 2013 We try and take officials out of the equation but it was very hard to take him out of the equation. We'll go along the same lines we always do. Or we'll potentially just give up. If you are feeding stuff in and it's not being listened to or acted on... there are things you tear your hair out [about]. Conor O’Shea You can understand Conor's frustration. As a coach you're diligent and you do your homework. You talk to the people in charge and say: 'This is what I'm observing, is this illegal?' If it doesn't get looked at, the perception is that the official hasn't done as much homework as the teams have. Richard Cockerill “ “ ” ”

How do we avoid such incidents? Dialogue’s key –We must understand what coaches want & (within the law) try to provide this –We both have a responsibility for what happens on match days Preparation –Whatever the game we must prepare properly Honesty –Must be honest with ourselves & others
