1 Allusion Defined as a reference to a well-known person, event, place or literary work. Additionally you were told that ALLUSIONS allow the writer to express complex thoughts or feelings without saying them in a straight forward manner.

2 Allusion: Act I Scene VI of POTO PANDORA: The first woman created by the Greek gods Each god gave her unique gifts She was sent to Earth with a jar or box but was told NOT to open it; however, she DID open it and when she did, she released all sorts of evils upon mankind. Christine is like Pandora because her curiosity will get the best of her!

3 Allusion: Act I Scene VI of POTO DELILAH: From the biblical story Samson and Delilah Samson was the strongest man in the world, and his enemies the Philistines wanted to destroy him. Samson loved a Philistine woman—Delilah—who covertly tried to find the secret to Samson’s strength. Christine is like Delilah because she is trying to figure out the secret behind the Phantom’s mask.
