5. São Francisco River Basin 25.6 million hectares (40%) of agricultural land. Water demands => 224 m³/s. Being:  28 m³/s (12.5%) => urban supply;  160 m³/s (71.4%) => irrigation;  7 m³/s (3.1%) => animal consumption  29 m³/s (13%) => industrial purposes  2,700 km from its headwaters to its mouth;  draining a 639,219 km2 area (8%)  503 Municipalities and a population of 15,545,866 million of people
