Definition of Terms Temperature- A measure of the average amount of kinetic energy of the particles in an object.
5
Instructions on working the equipment What is a Thermometer? A thermometer is an instrument that measures the temperature of a system. What is a Thermometer? A thermometer is an instrument that measures the temperature of a system.
6
How to take the measurements Thermometers measure temperature in units called degrees. (°), Degrees are equally spaced units between two points. Examine the liquid filled tube on the thermometer, and read the level of the liquid in the tube. This is the temperature and is stated as degrees Fahrenheit (°F) or degrees Celsius (°C). What the measurements mean / 30° F = Water turns to ice, rain turns to snow, it is cold enough to wear a coat. / 30°C = Water is warm enough to swim in, about the temperature of bath water. / 30° F = Water turns to ice, rain turns to snow, it is cold enough to wear a coat. / 30°C = Water is warm enough to swim in, about the temperature of bath water.
