Vocabulary Cartoons: Create a cartoon based on your assigned word. You may work with a partner. Your cartoon should include a visual and your word. You can make one funny picture or a cartoon strip using your word in the dialogue.

Brainstorm and complete your cartoon. Be creative. Quiet voices with your partner or the teacher only. Help each other. If you need more assistance, Raise your hand And I will come to you. You may sharpen pencils and get supplies as needed Complete all parts of the activity. Keep sidebars to a minimum.

What motivates people to vote in elections? On your post- it – write down one motivation or REASON to vote for somebody.

Be an active listener and copy down the notes. Ask and answer questions. Raise your hand none. Make sure you SLANT- sit up, lean in, ask questions, nod Your head and take notes.

A person, place or thing that stands for something else in addition to itself. National, religious, and cultural symbols have standard interpretations as well as a personal significance for each individual. What does the American Flag symbolize? What does the color red symbolize? What does an elephant symbolize?
