NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics & Analysis 4 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Purpose To produce a nationwide information resource of EMS data that would aid in: Developing nationwide training curricula Improve performance at the local level Evaluating patient and EMS System outcomes Assist in determining national fee schedules and reimbursement rates Address resources for disaster and domestic preparedness

NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics & Analysis 8 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Technical Overview 3-tier data structure: Local (400 data elements), State (< 400), Federal (federal dataset which is currently 70 data elements) Data linkage and sharing accomplished using XML, XSD Dataset based on the NHTSA Uniform Pre-Hospital Dataset 2.0 Existing statewide systems: Conversion New statewide systems: Adoption Encourage Federal support for individual statewide EMS initiatives Data collection software is marketed via private vendors Technical assistance via Utah site (Expertise) First web based reports available 2007

NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics & Analysis 10 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 23 Responses for Data Submissions 2006 - signifies those states that we are currently working with to submit data in 2006. 2007-2008 - Need to be contacted and other materials reviewed to determine which year would be most suitable. Most likely all will be capable of submitting in either 2007 or early 2008 from my experience. 2006 - Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Tennessee 2007 - Arkansas, Idaho, Rhode Island 2007/2008 – Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Utah, Wyoming
