2 2 “Engineering Systems” Track - Wednesday June 18 Engineering systems is a new interdisciplinary field of study involving technology, management and the social sciences. It encompasses activities in the following areas: Systems Engineering, Technology and Policy; Engineering Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Systems and Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Manufacturing, Product Development, and Industrial Engineering. The first session of this track will feature an overview of the emerging field of engineering systems and a recent survey of universities, with discussion of results. The second session will address the relationship of systems engineering and engineering systems, and describe and discuss how this new field is impacting university education and research. In the third session, TU Delft will discuss its education and research programs in engineering systems.

3 3 “Engineering Systems” Track - Wednesday June 18 This track is organized by the Council of Engineering Systems Universities (CESUN), an organization of over 50 universities with programs in Engineering Systems. 10:00–12:00 The Emerging Field of Engineering Systems Session Chair: Daniel Roos This panel will give an overview and perspectives on the field of engineering systems, and will include a discussion on future directions and transformation challenges. 10:00 What is Engineering Systems - An overview of the field including examples from the MIT Engineering Division, Daniel Roos 10:40 Engineering Systems Programs at CESUN Universities - Results of the CESUN Questionnaire, follo9wed by a discussion of results Lunch Noon-1:30

4 4 “Engineering Systems” Track - Wednesday June 18 1:30–2:50 From system Engineering to Engineering Systems Session Chair: Stan Settles, USC This session will discuss the broadening field of systems engineering as it relates to engineering systems, and implications for university programs. 1:30 Evolving Systems Engineering as a Field within Engineering Systems, Donna Rhodes 2:10 Implications for curriculum, accreditation, research methods, with discussion - Stan Settles BREAK 2:50-3:30
