2. EM Radiation
EM Radiation consists of transverse waves produced by the motion of electrically charged particles. There are 7 types of EM Radiation.

3. EM Radiation Radio waves – EM radiation with the lowest energy
2. Microwaves – used to heat food
Infrared waves – produced by
anything hot; infrared rays are not
visible

4. EM Radiation
Visible light – the only part of the EM Spectrum that we can see, ROY G BIV – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo & violet

5. EM Radiation
Ultraviolet radiation – higher frequency than visible light; can’t be seen. Our bodies need UV light to produce Vitamin D, but overexposure kills healthy skin cells. The ozone layer protects us from UV light.

6. EM Radiation
X-rays – have a very high frequency and energy; X-rays have a great penetrating power
Gamma rays – have the highest frequency and energy; used in cancer treatments
