VERBALS Verbals are verb forms used as another part of speech. The traveling circus allowed us the chance to see the dancing elephants.

Three types of verbals: GERUNDS – Verb forms ending in –ing and are used as a noun. Running is good exercise. PARTICIPLES – A verb form used as an adjective The running water flooded the basement. INFINITIVES – The base form of the verb used with the word “to” To run every day is good for your health.

Practice: 1.Winning is not as important as sportsmanship. 2.Mary wished on a falling star. 3.Frightened by the horror movie, the child had several nightmares. 4.Elise is a good person to ask for directions. 5.The push to reach the North Pole was dangerous and exciting. 6.Jody won several medals for swimming. 7.The dog, chained to a stake, barked loudly. 8.The sound of drilling disturbed our sleep.
