Walk Your Heart to Health (WYHH) A community-designed intervention from 2009-2012 to increase physical activity and improve heart health in Detroit

Walk Your Heart to Health (WYHH) Community and Faith-based organizations in Detroit. Met 3 times per week for 8 month

Study participants received: Pedometers & weekly printouts of steps Health assessments to measure health outcomes (blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and weight) Walk Your Heart to Health (WYHH)

What We Learned “I loved it! The people in the group and the Community Health Promoters, we became family... Everybody in my household walks, I changed my diet & lost weight. The program should never end…” 1. Almost anyone can walk!

SWAG training is designed to promote leadership & active living through the formation and support of walking groups in Detroit. Available to Detroit residents Free 12 hour training 10 step process to learn how to start a walking group! Supporting Walking Groups Training (SWAG)
