Prairie Land, a remote rural district, has been facing declining enrolment in many of its schools Altario, Berry Creek and Youngstown are all schools by necessity An alternative method to deliver Jr./Sr. high school programming was needed to: -maintain our community schools -ensure quality programming -keep student transportation time to a minimum -provide diverse opportunities to students in isolated areas.

Resistance to VC Classes - fear of the unknown/perception that VC delivery is inferior Timetabling & course cycling Teacher training and comfort Student engagement Supervision Parent/Teacher Interviews Communication

Hardware is common to all three schools (and division wide) Eagle Eye tracking cameras 1-1 laptops 84 minute shared blocks Use of SmartBoard Bridgit Software, supported with Google/Moodle CMA Desktop Also used for review sessions and PTI's

Each teacher has Moodle and Google for hosting support documents / collaboration platform Presentations and notes are regularly added to each for easy access Tests and quizzes are done through Moodle

Live Discussion Boards-immediate formative assessment / ability to track metacognition School wide WiFi (community wide in Berry Creek) Prezi / Glogster / Pinterest / Audacity / Picasa

Khan Academy videos YouTube videos regularly used Collaboration through PLC's/cohorts Common Campus days - Science specific Team teaching with ADLC Scanner / Printer in Vc classrooms EA support in off-site classrooms(when needed) Administrators in all three sites available to support office site teachers Substitute checklists / Contact lists / seating plans

regular meetings to discuss best practices tackle any issues and remain proactive with regards to upcoming struggles align supervision of instruction align calendars/special days design and plan common days discuss class and school expectations staffing and assignments / timetabling discussing streaming/programming

2 with whole school, 2 with just 7-12 students allows for collaboration amongst students and staff at all grade levels team teaching and peer reflection afternoons allow for teacher collaboration principals supply supervision and afternoon activity for the students allows for students to meet others that challenge them or have similar learning styles Allows students that were previously isolated in their learning communities to build relationships/collaborate

Investigating the potential to video-tape lessons for absent students. Administrators/teacher PLC days- we will be creating PLC time throughout the year for all teachers to collaborate within ABY campus Providing VC instruction at the grade 9 level Creation of a transition plan focused on elementary opportunities to benefit from the VC experience Parent/ Teacher interviews shifting from a tradition meeting to a success meeting format for all students.
