4 Tips for Un-Crackable Passwords  Don’t Use Real Words of Any Language  Perposely Misspel Wurds  Lowercase and UPPERCASE  No Personal Info  Use Numbers in Place of Letters  More is better

5 Protecting Your Password  Never write it down!  Never tell anyone your password  Never have FireFox save your password

6 Public Wi-Fi & Public Computers  Stop. Think. Connect.  Be wary of FREE and unrestricted Wi-Fi  Watch out for Evil Twins  Avoiding going to login websites

7 Viruses and Anti-Virus  There are NO more viruses… …but there are many bad programs out there.  The Home Security Analogy  Anti-Virus Programs Only Protect Certain Things

8 The Virus Scare Tactic  You have a virus!  Your computer will never tell you that you are infected and ask your permission on what to do next. It will just delete it.

9 Phishing Scams  Fishing by Casting a Big Net  Using email or a website to solicit personal information by posing as a trustworthy organization  Attacking the human element

10 How Can You Tell it’s a Hoax?  It doesn’t answer the Who or What  It suggests a consequence for not performing some action (like clicking)  It promises money  It instructs you to download an attachment  It asks you to forward the message  It was sent to a lot of people

12 Surfing the Web Safely  HTTP vs. HTTPS  Only Visit Reputable Sites  Pop-ups Can Say Anything!  Have Google Take You There

13 Protecting Your Privacy Online  Do business with credible companies  Use a secondary email address  Designate 1 Credit Card for Online Use  Don’t Use Debit Cards for Online Use  Don’t Accept the Offer to Save Passwords

14 Downloading and File Sharing  Be cautious of what you download.  Only download known files from reputable sources.  Avoid File-Sharing – Nothing is Free

15 Erasing Files Permanently  Where does a deleted file go?  How can I securely erase data?  Physically destroy the storage device
