Overview Selected a specific lift fan that will work for our design Selected propulsion fans as well as power sources Will use a bullet shaped body We are planning to use a differential sensor to keep the hovercraft on track Have found sufficient materials for the deck and skirt

Team Status We have been keeping up with our weekly meetings Our subgroups have met and decided on what parts and are working on different tasks to contribute to the overall design We are still uncertain with certain parts of our programming though For example we are working on how to keep the hovercraft on track/maneuver it so that it does not completely lose the tape.

Introduction We are currently working on different aspects of the design so that we can first create a hovercraft that floats Our most pressing issue is acquiring first a sufficient lift fan that can support all the parts We need to have the lift fan in our possession before we can determine the deck size The correct size for the axial fans will be determined by how much leeway we have in the hovercrafts weight range, which is set by the power of the lift fan. The axial fans will just have to run for short increments and shift the craft slightly left or right

Technical Stuff This is the lift fan that we are currently planning to use. We have not yet determined the price but have contacted the manufacturer

Technical Cont’d To the left is a P and Q cure (pressure and flow rate) for the 3 different size fans of this model. We are thinking of using the largest one. Model BCB1012UH is the largest fan and the chart below shows some of its specifications and statistics (very bottom)

Technical Cont’d This is one of the axial fans that our group is considering using for our hovercraft. We will have two fans one on the left and one on the right side of the hovercraft We have not yet determined if they will be placed in the very back or the middle. We will decide after experimenting with our design.

Technical Stuff Cont’d The base material will be Lexan. The skirt material will be the inner tube of a tire We have 2 rechargeable battery packs(9.6 volts each)

Summary Now that we have begun working on the construction phase we have a better idea of what parts the hovercraft will need. We have decided specifically which fans we need to accomplish our mission We have come up with 2 possible arrangements for the axial fans, which provides maneuverability is yet to be determined We now have a adequate, rechargeable power supply We know what materials we will use to construct our deck and skirt with

Future Work Our whole group will continue to meet Wednesday nights at 8:00 and in class as well The subgroups will continue to meet separately so that they can work on their target specific objectives Programming: how to write a program to make turns and find/track the line Skirt and Body: Making a strong, durable, and balanced deck that is leak free sealed to the skirt Lift and Propulsion: Order all the fans that we need and other necessary parts so that we can start to put the craft together
