1 Policies During Peron’s rule, the state apparatus grew in size and influence, centralizing decision making and policy implementation.

2 Political and social policies During his two reigns, Juan Peron followed his political movement of Peronism. The goal behind Peronism was to create social equality for all people of Argentina. The people were to work to better the community. Juan Peron wanted social justice and economic independence. He tried to achieve economic independence through a five year plan, that would increase the workers pay and improve industrialization by 40%

3 Peron used heavy taxes for the rich, and lowered the poor and working class tax. The lack of involvement in WWII helped Argentina decrease much of its debt. Peron’s government acted with the idea of centralizing social policies to make social aid more efficient. Peron used an organization led by his wife Eva to centralize the social aid, the FEP (Eva Peron Foundation).

4 Eva was also the creator of many of the social policies implemented focused on areas such as: –Welfare of children and elderly –Healthcare –Housing –Recreation –Provision of working tools Eva made it clear that the work of the FEP was not charity. The Peronist social policies contributed to many improvement in Argentine society.

6 The 1949 constitution It introduced changes to the original constitution of 1853. It allowed the President to stand for immediate reelection. The approval of the new constitution demonstrate the non-effectiveness of the opposition to stop Peron. The nature of the constitution was nationalist and emphasized the strong role of state.

7 Maria Eva Duarte Argentina with Peron entered in a revolutionary inclusion of all members of a society in which women would have a central role. Peron’s plans included the groundwork for giving women not only equal rights in the workplace but also equal civil rights

8 The role of Eva Peron Peron's wife, Eva, heavily supported social equality. She created the Female Peronist Party, that supported both equal rights for women and the Peronist Ideals. In 1947, Women's suffrage was passed in Argentina. Eva did not want women's rights to be gained as a competition with men, as seen in Europe. She thought women needed to reach their potential and find there place in the world

9 Eva tried to make sure women were informed about political and economic politics to ensure the health of the family. The cult of Eva bordered on religious adoration, particularly after her death. She publicy subordinated herself to Juan Peron, saying she liked to think of herself as bridge between Peron and the masses

11 Education, the arts and propaganda Juan Peron's first wife Eva, created a foundation to help develop more schools and scholarships. To keep support of Peron, the Peronism doctrine was integrated into the education system. Textbooks and other teaching material portrayed the importance of a Peronist Argentina. Policies of Juan Peron, like the Five Year Plan, were revered within the literature and lesson plans in the educational system. Teachers against Peronism were fired and Education became heavily regulated by the government
