Certain institutions stood out, however, as examples of good practice in one or other category of entrepreneurship education.

These include:  National Innovation Fund Business Planning Competition  Brightest Young Minds student entrepreneurship initiative  Technical and Business Education Initiative in South Africa (Tabeisa)  The Big Idea business support programme  Enablis Business Plan competition  etc…

AfED www.afed.co.za Observations & conclusions  There are a wide diversity of programmes, both in and outside of universities  Little formal institutional support is evident and most programmes are relatively small  There is little formal evaluation of course impacts and outcomes  There is an active research programme, fostered by the Academic Entrepreneurship Society of South Africa (AcES) … who are in fact holding their annual meeting in Cape Town this week
