According to Brudtland Commission report sustanable development as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

The Three Principle Components are economic growth, social equity and protection of the environment. Underlying the economic component is the principle that society’s well being would have to be maximize and poverty eradicated through optimal and efficient use of natural resources.

The Social component referes to the relationship between nature and human beings uplifting the welfare of the people, improving access to basic health and education services fulfilling minimum standards of society and respect for human rights. It also refers to the development of various cultures diversity pluralism and effective grass roots participation in decision making.

Issue of equity is the distribution of benefits and access to resources remains an essential component of both the economic and social dimensions of sustainable development.

Th Environmental Component on the other hand is concerned with conversation and enhancement of the physical and biological resource base and eco systems.

Management is necessary for ensuring co-ordination of mechanisms and processes, and to identify and resolve potential conflicts
