6.  Washington was better served by transit 80 years ago than it is today.  Plans have been proposed to double the existing transitway mileage.  Even with this additional mileage, the region would be served by less than half the mileage provided 80 years ago when indexed to population.  200 additional miles of transitway is a little less than half the planned mileage and is a reasonable goal.
