Washington was better served by transit 80 years ago than it is today. Plans have been proposed to double the existing transitway mileage. Even with this additional mileage, the region would be served by less than half the mileage provided 80 years ago when indexed to population. 200 additional miles of transitway is a little less than half the planned mileage and is a reasonable goal.
