WHAT ARE LIONS (definition) a large tawny-colored cat that lives in prides, found in Africa and northwestern India Nicknamed "the king of the jungle," the lion possesses both beauty and strength The lion is one of the largest members of the cat family.

FACTS ABOUT LIONS Lions are the only big cats to live in groups, called prides. Prides are close family groups. They work together to defend territory and hunt Lions hunt large animals such as zebra and wildebeest A lion may sleep up to 20 to 30 hours a day A lion’s roar can be heard from as far as 5 miles away

WHY ARE LIONS GOING EXTINCT No shelter No food Cutting down of trees

HOW HUMANS SHOULD PROTECT IT Keep a eye on it Less killing of lions Reduce human-lion conflict Protect tiger habitat

WHY HUMANS SHOULD PROTECT IT Because we ourselves are endangered species Medicine Help the place they live in They are unified and dependent Help deforestation, and poaching
