Important Information FAFSA completion deadline in April 15, 2016-almost all scholarships require a FAFSA Students must create/update their profile beginning 12/01/15 at: http://de.gov/scholarships http://de.gov/scholarships Students should monitor their e-mails for communications from the Delaware Higher Education Office Students must update their enrollment and GPA in their online scholarship profile by 06/30/2016 There are many types of scholarships –Merit and need based –Private Scholarships administered by the DHEO –Loan Incentive Programs where loans can be forgiven for qualifying employment in the State of Delaware 2

Charles L. Hebner Memorial Scholarship Covers full tuition, room, board and books at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University High School seniors who rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of 1300 on the SAT Must major in the humanities or social sciences, preference given to political science majors Renewable for up to three additional years One new award given per year Application opens 12/01/2015 and closes 03/05/2016 3

Bradford Barnes Memorial Scholarship Full tuition, fees, room, board and books at the University of Delaware High school seniors who rank in upper quarter of class and have a combined score of 1800 on the SAT Must file a FAFSA Renewable for up to three additional years One new award per year Application opens 12/01/2015 and closes 03/05/2016 4

Holloway, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Full tuition fees, room, board and books at Delaware State University High school seniors who rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of at least 1350 on the SAT Must file a FAFSA Renewable for up to three additional years One new award per year Application opens on 12/01/2015 and closes on 03/05/2016 5

SEED Student Excellence Equals Degree Provides tuition for eligible DE high school students enrolling full time in an associate degree program at Delaware Technical and Community College or the University of Delaware's Associate in Arts program Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and enroll no later than the fall semester immediately after high school graduation Apply for SEED through the College and meet all admission standards of the institution Must file a FAFSA 6

Inspire Scholarship Provides tuition for eligible DE high school students enrolling full time in a degree program at Delaware State University Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 and satisfy the admission standards of Delaware State University Enroll full time no later than the fall semester immediately after high school graduation Complete 10 hours of community service, as defined by the institution, each semester at DSU Complete a FAFSA annually by March 15 7

Diamond State Scholarship High school seniors who rank in upper quarter of graduating class Combined score of at least 1800 on the SAT Enroll full time in a degree program at a nonprofit accredited institution Renewable for up to three additional years Award amount is $1,250 and approximately 50 awards are offered per year Application opens 12/01/2015 and closes 03/05/2016 8

Scholarship Incentive Program Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, must file a FAFSA Enroll full time at an accredited institution in Delaware or Pennsylvania Or enroll in a program in another State that is not offered at the University of Delaware, Delaware State University or Delaware Technical and Community College Award is not renewable, but students can reapply Approximately 1200 awards given each year Application opens on 04/01/2016 and closes on 06/01/2016 9

Michael C. Ferguson Achievement Award Merit based award for eighth and tenth grade students in Delaware public and charter schools Awarded to students who demonstrate superior performance on the Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System in math and reading Award amounts of $1000 Students can receive the scholarship in more than one content area for their eighth and tenth grade scores Students can use at any accredited post secondary institution in the United States 11

Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 24 and be a resident of Delaware for at least three years before applying Applicant must be the child of one of the following –member of the armed forces whose cause of death was service- related; –member of the armed forces who is being held or was held as a prisoner of war; –member of the armed forces who is officially declared missing in action; –state police officer whose cause of death was service-related; or –state employee of the Department of Transportation whose cause of death was job-related. –Award is tuition and fees 12

Christa McAuliffe Teacher Incentive Program Full time enrollment at a Delaware college in a program leading to teacher certification High school students must rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of 1570 on the SAT Undergraduates must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA Preference given to applicants planning to teach in a critical need area Loan is forgiven at a rate of one year of teaching in a Delaware public school for one year of the loan, loan amount is $5000 Application opens on 04/01/2016 and closes on 06/01/2016 13

Delaware Nursing Incentive Program Full Time students enrolled in an accredited program leading to certification as an RN or LPN High school seniors must rank in upper half of class with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA Undergraduates must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA Loan amount is $5000 per year Loan is forgiven at a rate of one year of employment at a State owned hospital or clinic for one year of loan Application opens on 04/01/2016 and closes on 06/01/2016 15

Delaware Teacher Corps Incentive Program High school seniors must rank in upper half of graduating class and have a combined score of 1570 on the SAT Applicants must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA Full time enrollment at a Delaware public college in an undergraduate or graduate program leading to teacher certification Preference given to students who intend to teach middle and high school math and science or who intend to teach special education in a content area. Loan forgiveness at a rate of one year of teaching in a Delaware public school for one year of loan. Loan amount covers tuition Application opens on 04/01/2016 and closes on 06/01/2016 16

First State Manufactured Housing Association Scholarship Student must have been a resident of a manufactured home for at least one year prior to application May be used full or part time at a two or four year degree program Application evaluated on scholastic record, financial need, essay and personal/professional reference Award is up to $750, two scholarships awarded per year Award recipients can reapply annually Application opens on 12/01/2015 and closes on 04/15/2016 17

Delaware Solid Waste Authority John P. Healy Scholarship Open to Delaware residents who are high school seniors or full time college students in their freshman or sophomore years Must major in either environmental engineering or environmental science at a Delaware college Applications evaluated on financial need, academic performance, community or school involvement, and leadership ability Award amount is $2500 per year, renewable for up to three additional years if 3.0 GPA is maintained Application opens on 12/01/2015 and closes on 04/15/2016 18
