Population A group of individuals of the same species in one area Ex: all of the dogs in Lindsay

Immigration To enter and settle in an area to which an organism is not native

Emigration To leave an area and settle in another area

Energy Pyramid Image of the trophic (feeding) levels in an ecosystem

Producers/Autotrophs Auto = self Troph = feed Make sugar from the sun's energy through photosynthesis (some exceptions to this) Example: plants, trees, grass

Consumers/Heterotrophs Hetero = different, other Troph = feed Cannot make their own food, must obtain nutrients from eating consumers or producers 3 types: - Herbivore - Carnivore - Omnivore

Decomposers Break down dead organisms to release nutrients into environment Ex: bacteria and fungi
