2  He was born in Boston Massachusetts in the year of 1738  He died in 1815.

3  Father died before he was born  His step father was a engraver and a painter  He learned how to paint from his step father  By 15 he was able to mezzotint  Then by age 19 he had his own practice as a portraitist.

4  1776 he sent a painting of his brother that latter got him elected as a fellow of the society of artists in Great Britain.  Then by age 30 his portrait paintings made him rich and well know across New England.  He was also said to be the greatest painter during the 18 th century.

5  In 1769 he married the beautiful Susana Farnham Clarke.  Married for 45 years  They were very happy and loved one another  Later they went on and end up having 6 children they loved.

6  He was a great artist and here are some paintings he did.  Brook Watson and the shark ( in 1778) depicted a shark attack in the Havana.  He also painted a number of historic military themes:  The death of the chatham( Tate, London 1779)

7  The death of major Pierson(Tate, London 1783)  The repulse of the floating batteries of Gibraltar( London, Guildhall 1791)  This painting was one of the largest oil based paintings ever painted in Britain.
