Famous People Phyllis Frelich was born near Devils Lake, Phyllis wrote a book called Children Of a Lesser God Angeline Dickson was born in Kulm, North Dakota. She grew up to be an actress Erick Severeid was born in Velva, North Dakota, and became a journalist when he got older Peggy Lee was born in North Dakota and became a star, then became a waitress Louis L’Amour was born in Jamestown, North Dakota and started writing Western novels and he published over 400 of them

Attractions Dakota Zoo is a huge attraction. They have wolves, cougars, reptiles, and a huge train that you can ride, also it is located by the Missouri River Dakota Heritage fest in Jamestown has a Accordion band, Alliance Dancers! Mandan Rodeo Days is in Mandan, it is city wide and it is on the 4 th of July North Dakota state fair in Minot. It is there for nine days, they have competition's needle work, cooking, plants, and concerts Shiver fest is at Devils Lake
