1 The Triduum One Three-Day Long Liturgy Pray Fast Keep Vigil

2 One Three-day Long Liturgy Begins with evening mass of the Lord’s Supper and concludes after the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, with Easter Sunday as a kind of extension of the celebration of the Vigil. Holy Thursday – Mass of the Lord’s Supper Good Friday – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion Holy Saturday – The most holy night when Jesus passed from death to new life

3 Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper Begins 3-day long prayer - Assembly gathers for prayer -Holy Oils received - Gloria sung with bells - Scripture readings remind us of the saving power of the Lord and of life and death -Washing of feet (servant) - Assembly offers rice bowls - Altar set for Eucharistic meal -Holy Eucharist transferred with solemn procession in Church, ending in silent prayer

4 Good Friday Celebration of Lord’s Passion -Liturgy begins in complete silence, no usual procession - Priest enters, prostrates self (Symbolizes grief and sorrow of Church) -Proclamation of Passion -Prayer sung/recited for needs of Church -Venerate Cross (Sign of our salvation) - Receive Eucharist (Consecrated night before) - End in silence after simple prayer

8 Liturgy of Baptism Follows Gospel and Homily Welcome the elect to the Font for Baptism Candidates for reception into full communion join them as they profess their faith and all are Confirmed ALL present renew Baptismal promises and bless self with newly blessed holy water

9 Liturgy of the Eucharist Brings us together to celebrate at the Lord’s Table Welcome for the first time newly Baptized and Confirmed to Eucharistic Banquet Mass ends with solemn double ALLELUIA blessing Go forth to continue Easter celebration for 50 days
