6 PAGING SLIPS HEADINGS Attach sticker to PUA paging slips. If you print Summit Paging slips and PUA paging slips together, view slips and attach sticker to PUA slips labeled at the top “PICKUP ANYWHERE REQUEST”

7 Processing labels and bookstraps Attach Summit bookstrap or Summit label to the item(s) being paged. If the paging slip has a PUA sticker on it, this is your reminder to attach PUA sticker to the Summit label or Summit bookstrap. View illustrationsillustrations

8 PUA PROCESSING Owning library then checks out PUA item just the same as a regular Summit or Inn Reach item. Processing at the PUA site will be different than processing items for the regular INN Reach items. 11 WHAT IF… PUA problem resolution

12 WHAT IF……… PUA SCENARIO ONE I am trying to check out a PUA item to a visiting patron and I get a message no record found for PUA item Problem: If the owning library did not check the item out to Remote Site before sending to the PUA location, there will be no transaction and PUA location cannot receive. System will respond: Item is not in database. Fix: PUA site must contact Owning Site (OS) to have OS Check out to Remote Site. This will create the transaction and enable PUA site to receive the item.

13 WHAT IF……… PUA SCENARIO TWO Summit patron calls her home library and says “I am trying to renew my Summit Books and I can’t find them in my patron record.” Problem: PUA items have not been checked out to the patron Fix: After asking the patron to identify the books with title and barcode in her possession, I check the holds in her patron record. If I am certain these titles match records in her holds tab, I will check out these items to her.

14 WHAT IF……… PUA SCENARIO THREE Patron calls me and says “I picked up my Summit items last night at another library but only one of the three items are on my record.” Problem: Only some of her PUA items are in her record. Fix: I ask the patron to identify the items with title, barcode and lending institutions. After verifying these titles in her record, I check them out to the patron. Better Fix: Call the PUA site and ask them to receive the item in the PUA mode. Then have them check out the items to the patron.

15 WHAT IF……… PUA SCENARIO FOUR I am checking my Inn Reach reports and I see that there are several items on the “Rec’d too long” report that are not on my shelves. I check the patron record and realize that these “Rec’d too long” items are to be picked up at another site. I call that site and the Summit contact tells me the Summit items have vanished. Problem: If PUA items are not on the holdshelf at the PUA pickup site, the items may be in the patron’s possession, but not checked out. Fix: Do nothing and hope the items get back to the owning library. Patron will not receive overdue notices. Preferred Fix: Contact the patron to see if they have them in their possession and then check out to the patron.

16 WHAT IF……… PUA SCENARIO Five Problem: I am checking my Inn Reach reports and I see that there are several items on the “Rec’d too long” report that are not on my shelves. I check the patron record and realize that these “Rec’d too long” items are to be picked up at another site. I call that site and the Summit contact tells me the items are checked out to the patron at their site. Patron will not receive overdue notices. Fix: Check out the items at the patron’s home library. You may have conflicting due dates, but the patron will receive notices of overdue items. Alternative: Do not check out items to the patron and report the problem to Innovative. This has been reported previously, but as far as I know it is not identified by Innovative as a known issue.
