2 System Structure Motivation In order to apply autonomic management algorithms on a network, the management system and the network itself must poses a number of capabilities: i.Input in the shape of accurate network status; ii.A translation from management objectives to actions; iii.Enforcement of those actions on the network, and; iv.A feedback from the network. To fulfill requirements i and ii, we came up with the 4-layer, 3- colums model. To achieve iii and iv, and to support the model in task i, we composed a specialized protocol over the Elvin middleware.
