E-Commerce Most e-commerce sites make use of the “shopping cart” concept to allow you to add items to your virtual cart Many of these systems are also tied back into inventory data, to determine if there is enough of the item, and adding to your cart is like taking it off of the shelf and out of current inventory (temporarily) If you don’t check out within a certain period of time, the items may get added back into inventory, assuming you won’t actually be buying the item

4. E-Commerce There are many solutions for electronic shopping carts online X-Cart Zen Cart and many more GoDaddy even has a list you can have them pre-install onto a subdomain for you from their application list

5. E-Commerce Many of the shopping cart solutions are primarily focused around listing products with prices and helping with determining shipping costs You generally have several options for listing individual products, such as not listing if the quantity is zero, or allowing back order, what image/description to display with the product and so on

6. E-Commerce Once a customer is ready to actually check out, generally you will forward them into another software solution There are a lot of e-payment solutions out there, such as Pay-Pal, Google Wallet, Apple Pay, etc

E-Commerce These e-payment systems are generally designed to work like an API solution You forward a customer to the chosen solution with a dollar amount and other information When the user completes the transaction, a token is passed back to your website to let you know payment was completed It is also possible to take direct credit card information, which can be done in several ways depending on the banks you are working with

E-Commerce As a convenience to repeat customers, you may want to store direct credit card payment information, so on return visits, they can pick from a list of know cards This can be very helpful to the user, but you need to ensure you are meeting the security standards set out by the credit card companies for storing this data to prevent being liable for fraudulent activities on the cards stored
