The Sun and all the planets that orbit it form the Solar System. The Solar System contains eight planets and their satellites, and a large number of comets. Our Solar System is part of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Solar System consists of the Sun and those celestial objects bound to it by gravity, all of which formed from the collapse of a giant molecular cloud approximately 4.6 billion years ago. The Solar System is also home to two regions populated by smaller objects: The asteroid belt and trans-Neptunian objects, composed mostly of ices such as water, ammonia and methane.

The Sun Is the principal component of the Solar System, is a star, it gives off heat and light. Is made up of gases, it’s bigger than all the planets in the solar system, more than 100 times bigger than Earth. The sun is not particularly large for a star, it looks bigger than other stars because is nearer to Earth.

Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake and Eris, are recognized to be large enough to have been rounded by their own gravity, and are called “thus termed dwarf planets”. All the planets that orbit the solar system are called celestial bodies, this planets revolve around the Sun, increasing distance from the Sun. The planets are: Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune
