Prelude

Time of Prayer

"A Mighty Fortress is Our God“
Opening Song #1 "A Mighty Fortress is Our God“

1. A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper he, amid the flood, Of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. 1. A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper he, amid the flood, Of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, And, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal.

2. Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing; Were not the right man on our side, The man of God's own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he; Lord Sabaoth his name, From age to age the same, And he must win the battle.

3. And though this world, with demons filled, Should threaten to undo us; We will not fear, for God hath willed. His truth to triumph through us. The prince of darkness grim, We tremble not for him, His rage we can endure, For lo! His doom is sure, One little word shall fell him.

4. That word above all earthly powers, No thanks to them abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours Through him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also; The body they may kill; God's truth abideth still, His Kingdom is for ever.

Responsive Reading: Psalm 145
Leader: I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. People: Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of your majestyand I will meditate on your wonderful works. They tell of the power of your awesome works and I will proclaim your great deeds. They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

Leader: The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. People: They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. All: The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer

The Lord’s prayer Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

God tells Joshua His promises:
He will give him every place Joshua set his foot on No one is able to stand against him all the days of his life God will be with him, will never leave or forsake him

Now, Joshua is to do his part
God will do His part Now, Joshua is to do his part Be strong and courageous Be obedient to the Law Be careful to obey all the law that His servant Moses gave Do not turn from it to the right or to the left

Time of Reflection “Speak, O Lord”

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You To receive the food of Your Holy Word. Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;

Shape and fashion us in Your likeness, That the light of Christ might be seen today. In our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us  All Your purposes for Your glory.

Teach us, Lord, full obedience, Holy reverence, true humility; Test our thoughts and our attitudes In the radiance of Your purity.

Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see Your majestic love and authority. Words of pow'r that can never fail— Let their truth prevail over unbelief.

Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds; Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us— Truths unchanged from the dawn of time That will echo down through eternity.

And by grace we'll stand on Your promises, And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us. Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built And the earth is filled with Your glory.

"Onward Christian Soldiers"
Closing Song #690 "Onward Christian Soldiers"

1. Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before! Christ, the royal Master, Leads against the foe; Forward into battle See his banners go.

Chorus Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before!

2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; On then, Christian soldiers, On to victory! Hell's foundations quiver At the shout of praise; Brothers, lift your voices, Loud your anthems raise.

Chorus Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before!

3. Like a mighty army Moves the Church of God; Brothers, we are treading Where the saints have trod. We are not divided, All one body we, One in hope, in doctrine, One in charity.

Chorus Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before!

4. Crowns and thrones may perish
4. Crowns and thrones may perish. Kingdoms rise and wane, But the Church of Jesus Constant will remain. Gates of Hell can never 'Gainst the Church prevail; We have Christ's own promise, And that cannot fail.

Chorus Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before!

5. Onward then, ye people! Join our happy throng, Blend with ours your voices In the triumph song. Glory, laud and honor Unto Christ the King, This through countless ages Men and angels sing.

Chorus Onward Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before!
