Ethos - celebrating children learning and leading - child led learning: - giving children choices of different ways/places to learn including Outdoor Learning - creative curriculum and linking areas of learning to make it meaningful - community links – art gallery link and history of our school - family groups – every Tuesday

Curriculum Our main topics for the year will be: - Autumn 1: Our world - Autumn1: Where in the World? - Autumn 2: London’s Burning - Spring 1: Child Choice - Spring 2: Come Fly with me (Wright Bros) - Summer 1: Individual Child Led Topics - Summer 2: The Circus is coming to Town

Trips Half termly trips/visitor Approx £60 per year for class trips/ visitors. Local community Trips into London

Logistics Drop off and pick up - 8.30-8.45am. Register taken at 8.45am. Mon, Tues, Weds parents welcomed in for transition/settling and saying ‘goodbyes’ in the playground from Thursday Assemblies 25 th September – Harvest Assembly 16 th October – Year 2 Superstars Assembly 11 th December- Year 2 Satellites Assembly Lunchtime – new catering company, emailed menu for you to discuss daily with your child Uniform – please check the website and ensure your child is dressed accordingly Attendance After school clubs – to start w/c 21 st September Children to arrive at school on Wednesdays wearing appropriate clothing for Forest school (date for starting Forest school to be announced). Children to bring school uniform to change into upon arrival at Harpenden Academy

Timetable Maths/English daily Recorders with Dawn – Wednesday afternoon Forest School – Wednesday morning first half of each term Multisports – Monday morning Guided Reading three times per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) Computing, Art, Design Technology (including cooking), RE, PSHE, Humanities and Topic throughout the week Family Groups – Tuesday After school club – Year 1 small room/library Breakfast club – library Sibling club – EYFS Home learning – given out Friday and handed in Wednesday

Home is part of the child Parent communication link book and office@ positive feedback fortnightly – verbal/blog/link book blogs updated weekly – please ensure you have signed consent form half termly newsletters half termly sharing mornings Volunteering Please let us know if you have any particular talents or want to volunteer at HA. Book bags Please check daily for letters/ link book messages

Behaviour Our Golden Rule is Taking Care Behaviour Steps - Thinking Space in every location to help children reflect with adult support Reward systems – praise, celebration and family group tokens

Safeguarding Keeping our children safe Mobile phones, no phones around the school. Photos only to be taken of your own child in school on a digital camera (not phone) – please do not share on social media sites. ESafety permission form, please make sure these are signed or your child will be unable to use technology in school. Correct drop off and pick up arrangements - parking - passwords – anyone picking up your child must know this Esafety at home – workshop this half term
