Chloroform used as anesthetic Opium was used for pain. Blackberries for diarrhea. Jalap as a laxative

8 Medical Advancement Medical Importance expanded greatly during the Civil War. Battle of Bull Run showed the importance of medical organization. Medical personnel often fled the battlefield in fear of being wounded themselves
