The Demo Systems Team builds fully functional VMware based demos of all major products These are documented and distributed to thousands of partners and employees These demos, the team that builds them and the corporate wide standard to which they are built is called Utopia http://novell.com/demosystems

The Novell Demo Systems Portal gives you quick and easy access to: – A browsable library of the Utopia Demo Library with complete documentation and videos for each demo – Links to download the VMs that make up the demos – Run them online or locally – Online access provided by a system called NODS – A full feature remote demonstration system – Free, shareable and live access to the VMs on our servers – An easy landing page called the Demonstration Dashboard – A choice of remote access methods including your browser

The 2010 Portal added many new useful features – all are still there The 2011 portal has a new sleeker look and new tabs for quick access to your favorite features The 2011 portal introduces many new features – Parking Lot, NODS Viewer, Bookmarks, History, Integrated support and news pages and much more

Here you can: Search the library content with keywords for all types of files See and reschedule your past demos in NODS History Schedule a new NODS demo Use, list, kill, extend, reset or park your current demos Bookmark your favorite content from Flash videos to demos Use the new Parking Lot to archive or restore your demos – (Limited to select US based employees at first release)

Demos Tab – Find a demo Put a keyword in the search box, like Collaboration and click the magnifying glass to start the search Use the green filter buttons on the right to filter by content type. You can bookmark the favorites you find.

Each demo gets it's own dashboard. You can access the Documentation, Kill, Extend, Reset, see Advanced demo information or Park your demo here

© Novell, Inc. All rights reserved. 17 What's new in the Demo Systems Portal? The dashboard has everything you need to access, customize and share your demo. As the owner, you see all of the links. Links is blue are visible to your guests. You can edit most items and change their names and visibility to your guests. If you are not going to share the demo you don't need to customize the page

© Novell, Inc. All rights reserved. 19 What's new in the Demo Systems Portal? The NODS viewer now the default It shows only the VM and not the VMware controls. This makes your demo view simpler and more spacious. To control the VM use the VM controls at the bottom of the dashboard

Contact us at https://vibe.novell.com/demosupport for help with this. https://vibe.novell.com/demosupport The first four buttons will Start the VM, Stop the VM, Suspend the VM and Restart the VM.

© Novell, Inc. All rights reserved. 22 What's new in the Demo Systems Portal? There is a remarkable level of control in the Virtual Machine Control bar The next two buttons will Revert to a previous snapshot or allow to to create a new snapshot. Advanced users can remove VMs from demos too

There is a remarkable level of control in the Virtual Machine Control bar The last three buttons will: 1 - Show a simple screen of just this VM (VM must be running) 2 – Allow you to browse for a file on your machine and send it directly to the disk inside your running VM 3 – Add the single screen link to the Dashboard links so you can share it with your guests.

Remember to click “edit” and change the link name to something your guest will understand Remember to click “edit” to make unused links invisible

© Novell, Inc. All rights reserved. 25 What's new in the Demo Systems Portal? Other neat features of the Dashboard The “Attached files” pane lets you share your files with your users. It also automatically creates a presentable version in the Dashboard. Just upload, wait a few minutes for the automatic conversion and click Present. The Bulletin Board is a great place to post dial in numbers etc. If you change the name of the demo in the Dashboard that change will show up in your list of demos in portal in a few minutes. The Invite button lets you email the guest Dashboard URL to guests. The Dashboard stays live after the demo expires so your guests can get to your documents.

© Novell, Inc. All rights reserved. 26 What's new in the Demo Systems Portal? Parking Lot – Demos Tab (Limited to select US employees at launch) Archive your demo to our near line storage. It suspends your VMs and saves them for your future recall. Customize a demo and then reuse it as often as you like. “My Parked Demos” lets you use or remove parked demos. While only available to select US employees currently, we'll work to expand it's availability as quickly as possible. Park and kill your long term demos when not in use, saving valuable resources until you need them again. * Note - It does not kill or cancel your current demo. Remember to kill the demo after parking if you aren't using it.*

The best way to learn the Portal and systems like NODS is to use them. With a little practice you'll be doing more free online demos with less prep time. Our best features were suggested by users.
