Focus: -- pre-modern South and Southeast Asian -- spiritual beliefs, literature, music, visual arts, histories --ongoing contested, representations of past -- global connections Issues: identity, religious belief/practice, gender relations, political power Topics: (e.g.) cultural exchange, Ramayana performance, ritual practice, and politics of representation Humanities, interdisciplinary. different ways of knowing: intellectual, emotional, spiritual, experiential.
